The Chamber is always looking for new ways to help members make connections, expand their horizons and learn more about how we advocate for businesses and job growth.
The Reach Campaign, which concluded in mid-November, is our annual chance for members to become more engaged with the Chamber through event and initiative sponsorships and advertising opportunities. Part of the purpose of that campaign is to introduce potential new events for the coming year; in addition to our full slate of economic development, membership, public affairs and workforce development events, we’re happy to announce the addition of three new programs for 2018.
The ATHENA Award
This international award is a celebration of community engagement for women who have given their time and expertise to grow local businesses and companies while expanding leadership opportunities in our area.
The ATHENA program is all about celebrating, inspiring and advocating for women leaders and the contributions they make to our community. The ATHENA Award, which will be presented during a luncheon event on March 8, is intended to honor exceptional professionals and leaders, while inspiring others to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives.
(We’re currently taking nominations for this prestigious award. If you know someone who deserves recognition, please take a moment and fill out our online nomination form.)
State of the State
One key component of our public affairs mission is connecting members with key policy makers, including state-level leaders – providing access to the elected officials that make decisions that impact the business community and the state economy.
The State of the State event will offer Chamber members the opportunity to hear from Missouri’s Governor or Lieutenant Governor in early summer. The keynote speaker will offer an update on state issues, challenges and successes. Look for more information on this exciting event in the coming months.
Fall Golf Classic
One event making its return after nearly a decade is our annual golf event. Dubbed the Fall Golf Classic, the Chamber is inviting golfers of all skill levels from around the area to have a day of fun while making new connections, marketing their business or treating a current or prospective client to a great day on the links.
Mark your calendar for October 8, 2018, at Twin Oaks Country Club, and come prepared to enjoy lunch, golf and an end-of-day post-tournament awards reception with more great food and fun.
“These new events are additional ways we’re looking to round out our list of offerings to members for 2018 and beyond,” says Chamber Vice President of Membership Dori Grinder. “Whether you’re a member because of the networking opportunities, our efforts to help companies grow and add jobs, our advocacy efforts—or all of the above—there’s something on the calendar for you!”
