Summary:

The Draftsman’s role is to (design cool things for stainless steel fabrication) work with Design Lead to produce models, shop drawings, cut files, bills of materials, purchased item lists, and other associated project documents. Work through the revision and approval process with Design Lead and document revisions as needed. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, and related data to assess factors affecting design or layout.  Coordinate with Design lead and fabricators to design, layout, or detail components and systems to resolve design and/or other problems.  Assist in constructability reviews with Design Lead, PM’s and other shop personnel, to ensure products are designed with shop capabilities in mind.

  1. Create and store project documents on the server using current filing methodology

  2. Assist in developing and following project workflows, design processes, and drafting standards

  3. Field measure existing equipment and/or utilities for design concept

  4. Keep personal workstation and software up to date

  5. Assist in identifying and correcting challenges between design and fabrication

  6. Participate in a weekly workload meeting

  7. Assist in the continuous improvement initiatives related to the design department

  8. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

  9. May be required to drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours

    1. Maintain valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy

  10. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance

  11. Perform other duties as assigned

Environmental, Physical, and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including climbing, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and carrying; moving materials and manipulating things

  • Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry/move 20lbs

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

  • Ability to communicate clearly with other employees

  • Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe manner

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • 3D Modeling experience preferably using Inventor

  • ERP experience

  • Mirosoft office experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

  • Working knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

  • Working knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

  • Ability to communicate clearly with other employees

  • Good organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required

  • A current valid driver’s license is required
