The Manager, System Operations manages and coordinates the daily activities of the power system control center, setting goals, objectives and defining priorities for the department and to oversee the functions of Operations Specialists. The principal focus of the position is to ensure the customers’ electrical needs are always met and to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the transmission system. This position interfaces primarily with his/her manager, System Operations’ staff, staff of other AECI divisions, Reliability Coordinator (RC) staff, operations and engineering supervisors at member/owner G&Ts and position counterparties at other power companies. This position will be located at our Headquarters in Springfield, MO.

Principal Activities
 Manage the operation of the control center to ensure the electrical needs of the AECI customers are always met and to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.
 Participates in NERC/SERC Technical committees and/or sub-committees, collecting and transferring information as required.
 Ensure adequate initial training and continuing education for the Operations staff in fulfillment of NERC certification and AECI-required training and certifications.
 Assist in compliance with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards and Reliability Coordinator (RC) directives.
 Assists in the coordination of scheduled and forced outages of generating units and Bulk Electric System elements with the G&T’s, Plants, RC and adjacent Transmission Operators, when needed.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
 Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent or demonstrate comparable knowledge and experience.
 Possess a minimum 8 years progressively more responsible related experience with power engineering or extensive operating experience with electric power systems and a minimum of 3 years of full HR responsibility for direct reports.
 Demonstrate excellent communication, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
