DC Development Director

Full Time: 40+ Hours | Start Date: Immediately

Purpose Statement

The job of the DC Development Director was established for the purpose/s of helping create sustainable income and securing funds for the Dream Center. The director provides direction and support to the long-term and short-term development goals of the Dream Center. By securing new donors, creating donor systems and using a variety of fundraising methods the Development Director will help create sustainable income. The director will be responsible for mobilizing and leading a team of grant writers, fundraising teams and working alongside the DC team. The director will work directly under the DC Executive Director.

Essential Functions

  • Researching, writing and applying for grants and funding.
  • Creating systems for tracking donors, thanking donors and inviting them to appropriate giving opportunities.
  • Creating, leading and implementing fundraising events.
  • Overseeing communication strategies, social media and newsletters to create a consistent brand.
  • Track what donors/businesses are asked for what events/funding and the outcomes.
  • Tracking data needed for grants, annual reports and donor communication.
  • Attending trainings and ongoing learning experiences to expand development knowledge base.
  • Secure new donors
  • Schedule speaking opportunities for sharing the DC vision
  • Work with DC Executive Director to create a meeting tier and scheduling large donors appropriately.

Other Functions

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Helping manage and direct DC team in the absence of DC director.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, knowledge and abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Books and additional training will be required monthly to increase skills and knowledge.

KNOWLEDGE is required to assess potential donor bases, determine opportunity and craft communication packages. Knowledge of poverty, non-profit management and grant writing is needed to accomplish the tasks well.

ABILITY is required to schedule meetings, collect data and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances. Problem solving is required to identify issues and come up with potential solutions. Functions of the job will include: communicating with people from diverse backgrounds, maintain confidentiality, setting priorities, working on a team, working with constant interruptions, being attentive to detail, and displaying tact and courtesy.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working on a team, providing information and/or advising others, operating within a defined budget. Maintaining schedules, funding and event will be responsibilities of the director. There is opportunity to affect the organization’s services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking and 25% standing. The job is performed in a clean environment and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience

History of grant writing, technical writing and fundraising preferred. Non-profit background and experience preferred.

BA/BS required

Background check through FCSR and Protect My Ministry

The Springfield Dream Center reserves the right to random drug test when needed

Schedule

Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm

Friday 9am-2pm

Schedule subject to change based on meetings and special events

Compensation

Compensation and benefit package discussed in hiring process.
