The Springfield Business Development Corporation’s Annual Meeting is fast approaching, and this year’s event will highlight the organization’s emphasis on quality of place in fostering economic growth.
As the economic development arm of the Chamber, the SBDC is always looking for new ways to make the Springfield region more attractive – for recruiting and retaining talent, for new businesses considering locating in the area, and for those already here and looking to expand.
As you’ll hear at the SBDC Annual Meeting on February 21 at University Plaza Convention Center, the conventional approaches to economic development are evolving. Ryan Mooney, senior vice president of economic development, will highlight SBDC’s focus on placemaking initiatives and talent development to help create jobs and spur capital investment in the Springfield region.
One example of that new emphasis is this year’s keynote speaker: author and internationally recognized speaker Peter Kageyama, who is an expert on emotionally engaged cities. He offers presentations around the world about the ins and outs of bottom-up community development, as well as some of the amazing people bringing those efforts to fruition.
We hope you’ll make plans to join us at this exciting luncheon event. Individual tickets and tables of eight are available; visit our online calendar to learn more or to register.
