Genie Recon to expand in Springfield, investing $11.5 million and creating 243 jobs

Springfield, Mo.— Genie Recon, an advanced remanufacturer of telescopic boom lifts, announced an expansion in Springfield that will bring $11.5 million in investment and 243 new jobs to the region. The company marked the milestone today with a ribbon cutting at its facility.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s economic development team worked with Genie Recon, the company's financial advisors, and the Missouri Department of Economic Development to navigate the incentive process supporting the expansion. Genie Recon will benefit from the Missouri Works Program, which helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation.

Genie Recon is a joint venture between Springfield-based SRC Holdings Corporation and aerial lift manufacturer Genie. The company operates a 136,000-square-foot facility at 2065 East Pythian Street, where it currently reconditions Genie® S®-65 and S-85 telescopic boom lifts with plans to expand to additional models. The process restores equipment to original factory specifications, fully inspected and tested rather than simply repaired or rebuilt.

“This is a great example of what happens when a homegrown company like SRC keeps reinvesting in our region,” said Jonas Arjes, senior vice president of economic development at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. “Genie Recon strengthens our advanced remanufacturing base and builds on a long history of that sector in our community. SRC has a long track record of building businesses that last, and this new partnership with Genie Lifts is the next chapter of that story.”

Genie Recon currently employs 60 people and is hiring across planning, production, maintenance, engineering, and warehouse roles as it grows toward the 243 new positions. The company offers technical training and tuition reimbursement to support employee advancement.
