Year founded: 2007
Tell us about the history of your business:
I began my career as a Financial Advisor immediately after graduating Missouri State University in 2003. I worked for a couple of other financial services firms for the first few years of my career prior to starting JFP in 2007. We are an independent Financial Planning firm and as such, we have no corporate agenda that can sometimes get in the way of advice being provided by an advisor to a client. We work for our clients, not a large corporation. I started our company as a solo-practitioner with a laptop and a printer. Since that time, we have grown to a six-person organization with three advisors, three support staff and one of the largest independent books of business in Southwest Missouri.
Describe the services your organization provides and what makes you unique:
We are a comprehensive Financial Planning firm. We provide fee-based Financial Planning services, wealth management, retirement planning and insurance consulting. What makes us unique is that we approach the Financial Planning process with our clients from the perspective of a Quarterback. Comprehensive Financial Planning typically requires getting other professional advisors involved such as an attorney, a CPA and/or banking professionals. We like to help our clients identify and establish relationships with these other advisors to help build their financial “team.”
Tell us something people may not know about your organization:
We are a family organization. 4 of our 6 associates are family.
What is the biggest challenge facing your organization now, and how are you working to overcome the challenge?:
The uncertainty surrounding the U.S. trade policy with worldwide trading partners is currently our biggest challenge. We are handling this challenge with frequent, timely and concise communication with our clients to help relieve anxiety about their investment portfolios.
