Springfield City Council

Watch here for additional information on upcoming April 2025 Springfield City Council candidates!

Five Council seats, including the Mayor, will be up for election in April 2025:

  • Mayor (currently held by Ken McClure, who is unable to seek reelection based on the the terms of service allowed within the Springfield Charter)
  • Zone 1 (currently held by Monica Horton who can run for reelection)
  • Zone 4 (currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Matt Simpson who can run for reelection)
  • General Seat A (currently held by Heather Hardinger who can run for reelection)
  • General Seat B (currently held by Craig Hosmer who can run for reelection)

Council members and the mayor serve four year terms.

As of October 2, 2024, several local news outlets have published that Jeff Schrag and Mary Collette plan to run for mayor in the April 2025 election. Candidates must submit a certain amount of certified voter signatures to be on the ballot, and petitions for mayoral candidates must be signed by at least 200 registered voters and submitted to the City Clerk between December 9 and January 21. All interested candidates are currently able to pick up packets in the City Clerk's office.

The Chamber does not endorse candidates for any election.

Springfield Public Schools Board of Education

Watch here for additional information on upcoming April 2025 R-12 Board of Education candidates!

Two SPS Board of Education members will be up for election in April 2025:

  • Kelly Byrne (can run for reelection)
  • Steve Makoski (can run for reelection)

All board members serve at-large for three-year terms.
