Go behind the scenes of the Talent Attraction Video

How do you capture the spirit of our city in a little more than 3-minutes?

You combine dozens of interviews with Springfieldians, hours of raw footage from around the region and a relentless focus on the key findings of our Talent Attraction Initiative research.

Springfield's first talent attraction video made its public debut during the Chamber's Good Morning Springfield event this month, and if a picture is worth a thousand words, this is worth much more. The video is the first in a series and represents the newest supplement of the Talent Attraction Initiative, a resource designed by the Chamber to help local employers communicate why Springfield is the best place to enjoy the life you want.

The first phase of the initiative officially debuted in January 2014 with the launch of LiveInSpringfieldMO.com, but work on the project behind the scenes began much earlier.

In 2013, the Chamber and SBDC worked with Creativore to study the behavior of individuals who would be ideal candidates to relocate to Springfield. What they found was very positive news for Springfield.

“The individuals surveyed knew very little about Springfield, and that made it pretty easy to change their perception after sharing a few positive facts about the community,” Ryan Mooney, Senior Vice President of Economic Development said. “We learned that we don’t have to combat any existing negative perceptions about Springfield and that our community already possesses positive traits that will resonate with our target market.”

In addition, the research found that individuals considering relocation are most concerned about safety, low housing costs, vibrancy of the economy, ease of getting around and the quality of the community’s healthcare systems. For this reason these themes are woven throughout the website, video, and print messaging for the initiative, and will continue to be incorporated as a proactive social media strategy begins to take shape.

All of this was made possible by funding from Springfield Business Development Corporation investors. By supporting the Chamber and SBDC, businesses are helping the Springfield community attract and retain the quality workforce we need to grow our economy. The video was produced by Springfield creative agency Swagbot.
