SPRINGFIELD, MO — Dallas-area businessman Daryl Flood will be speaking with business students at Evangel University on Wednesday, April 17, at 10 a.m.

As President and CEO of Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, and the largest agent for Mayflower Transit in the country, he has built his business on the open book management policies of SRC’s Jack Stack, author of The Great Game of Business.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Flood will be speaking in Trask Hall, room 101, on the topic “Dream Big…Clarify Your Vision…Think Long.”

“Mr. Flood will share how a ‘missionary kid’ followed his faith in God to start a moving company with one truck and a small warehouse, and he has grown it to become a global moving company today generating $150 million in annual revenue,” said Robert Thomas, retired executive with ConocoPhillips, and director of talent engagement with the Evangel Business Department.

The Great Game of Business – Hall of Famer

Last fall, Daryl Flood, Inc. was honored as the 2018 Hall of Fame inductee at the 26th Annual Gathering of Games, presented by The Great Game of Business, in Dallas, Texas.

The Hall of Fame honors organizations that have operated using the principles of The Great Game of Business for more than a decade with lasting, proven results and have demonstrated a willingness to spread the word on open-book management in order to help others succeed.

According to his company website, through the practice of The Great Game of Business, Daryl Flood, Inc. has grown from $10 million in revenue upon implementation in 1995, to where he is today. In the five years between 2010 and 2015, the team doubled revenue while also remaining debt-free and profitable.

There are six components to Daryl Flood Relocation & Logistics, which he started in Coppell, Texas, in 1982 — local, long-distance, international and commercial moving, as well as storage solutions and relocation management. Their offices are locate in Coppell, Houston and Austin, Texas.

Leadership

According to the Dallas News, Flood’s business is a two-time winner of the “Top 100 Places to Work” in the metroplex, and his company has been recognized with the Mayflower Million Dollar Club Award as the largest producer for Mayflower Transit.

In 2016, Flood was awarded the Mayflower Joyce Derrick Award. The annual award recognizes individuals who have shown particular dedication to and leadership in the moving industry.

“Daryl is known for leading with a servant’s heart and encouraging employees to do the same,” said Mayflower CEO Jim Powers at that time. “He is dedicated to excellence and it is evident in the recognitions the agency and its employees have received over the years.”

Flood explained, “My intention was to build a moving company that would stand apart from all others by offering exceptional service at a fair price, treating its customers and their possessions with respect, and attracting the best and brightest employees who shared the same attitude and willingness to serve.”

“I am proud to say that we are meeting those objectives. What makes us the best choice for your move? We call it our four pillars:

  • Philosophy — It starts with caring for the things our customers care about most.
  • People — We hire people who are intelligent and have great attitudes and then teach them the moving business.
  • Resources — We have not only the physical resources of trucks and warehouses to serve you, but the intangible resources of experience and expertise.
  • Commitment — The nine most important words in our company are “Satisfy the Customer, Satisfy the Customer, Satisfy the Customer.”

The connection to EU

Daryl Flood is a former member of the Board of Directors at Central Bible College, which consolidated with Evangel University in 2013. His father had attended there. Flood maintained contact with members of CBC’s faculty who transitioned to Evangel, and the timing has worked out to share his experiences with Evangel students.

“I had the opportunity to visit with Mr. Flood and tour his company’s headquarters in Coppell, Texas, earlier this year,” added Thomas, a 1980 accounting graduate of Evangel University. “His journey of faith in building a successful company will intrigue and motivate you in a mighty way.”
