The Springfield Headquarters is currently seeking applicants for a Planning Engineer in the Engineering & Operations Division. Our Planning Engineers perform all types of studies, including load flow, short circuit, dynamic and transient in the evaluation of current conditions, maintenance scenarios, projected growth, large scale transfers, and other scenarios. Studies are performed for members, internal stakeholders, FERC/NERC compliance and regional coordination. It is preferred that qualified applicants have knowledge in the areas of relaying system design, equipment specifications, and transmission operations. Typical technical tasks include writing technical reports, conducting transmission analyses including load flow interpretation, verification of the load flow models and organizing and maintaining transmission system data.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and be able to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects to meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, organizational skills, and very strong interpersonal skills are essential. Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering is required. Strong computer skills using industry software such as PSS/E , TARA, Aspen OneLiner and Promod are desired Programming/coding abilities in Python, VBA, SQL, or others is a plus. All experience levels considered.
