This is a seasonal position.

Salary Range:  $8.60 per hour   

FLSA:  Non-Exempt

Immediate Supervisor:  Print Shop Manager/Print Shop Specialist

Schedule Details:  Part-time (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week)

Position Summary

The part-time Print Shop Assistant performs various job duties associated with the OTC Print Shop related to the printing industry, operates all general printing equipment, produces printed finished product and provides delivery services across the Springfield Campus.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in operation of offset presses, color copiers, and other printing and graphics equipment.
  • Perform a variety of printing and binding duties as needed (including but not limited to press operation, coil binding, comb binding, folding, paper scoring, collation, screen printing and vinyl de-weeding).
  • Perform general cleaning, maintenance, and organization of shop areas.
  • Provide delivery services to all buildings on Springfield Campus.
  • Perform duties in the absence of Print Shop Production Supervisor or Production Assistant.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to make basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to multi-task, while also remaining detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous printing industry and/or binding operations experience.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions.  Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel. 

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
