AECI is currently seeking qualified applicants for Commodity Term Trader in the Energy Marketing Department of the Engineering & Operations Division.  Principal activities include the daily management and coordination of all activities related to term trading, which spans financial and physical power, natural gas and diesel.  This position is on the front lines in managing commodity price risk for AECI, as well as optimizing the company’s portfolio of generation and transmission assets. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize AECI’s generation assets through both physical and financial transactions with bilateral counterparties or through an AECI approved Exchange.
  • Identify risk in the AECI portfolio and recommend strategies to mitigate.
  • Manage the forward purchase of gas in order to support AECI’s member load and off-system sales.
  • Work with Energy Management Specialists to understand short and medium term hedging needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Technical degree in engineering, economics, finance, or related discipline; or have minimum 5 years of prior experience in the utility industry with proven ability to effectively develop quantitative and economic evaluations.
  • Solid knowledge of power marketing practices and transmission systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with precision and speed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
