AECI is currently seeking qualified applicants for Energy Management Specialist in the Energy Marketing Department of the Engineering & Operations Division.  Principal activities include maximizing the value of generation, transmission and fuel assets on a daily basis, all with a focus on ensuring reliable energy deliveries to member owners.  This role is responsible for Day Ahead load forecasting, establishing next day generation schedules, as well as optimizing market purchases and sales of both power and gas.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Purchase and sell power to optimize AECI’s generation fleet as well as member’s load obligations.
  • Manage Day Ahead and Real Time natural gas needs relating to AECI resources.
  • Maintain contact with counterparties to survey market conditions.
  • Utilize all tools and interfaces to optimize trades within RTOs and Exchanges.
  • Develop a load, wind and RTO price forecast for the applicable day and two week horizon
  • Dispatch power resources in the most economical and efficient manner on a Day Ahead basis.
  • Purchase transmission to support power purchases and sales.

Job Requirements:

  • Technical degree in engineering, economics, finance or related discipline; or have minimum 5 years of prior experience in the utility industry with proven ability to effectively make quantitative and economic evaluations quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with precision and speed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
