The second event in the Chamber’s Outlook Series of economic development events will focus on the economy, and where it may be heading – and you’re invited to join us for this valuable information.
On August 22 at University Plaza Convention Center, economist Kathleen Navin will offer a look at current trends in the regional and national economies, as well as what those trends might mean for the future.
Navin brings an impressive pedigree. She is Director of US Economics at Macroeconomic Advisers by IHS Markit, having joined the firm in 2010; her primary responsibilities pertain to the group’s U.S. Macro Insights service. Prior to joining MA, Kathleen was a research associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in the division of Macroeconomics and Monetary Policy. She also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Missouri.
On the local front, Ryan Mooney, the Chamber’s senior vice president of economic development, will provide an update on ongoing economic and workforce development projects in the region.
He’ll also talk about why continuing to bring new people to join the area workforce will be the biggest key to Springfield’s long-term success. He has noted, including in a recent Springfield Business Journal column, that communities with sustained population growth will be the economic winners for the foreseeable future.
Tickets for this event are still available through the Chamber’s website, so don’t miss your chance to join us for this important information.
