Local nonprofits are looking for young professional board members, and they often turn to The Network for help. We've rounded up the latest openings below.

Diaper Bank of the Ozarks

The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks is seeking interested individuals for their Board of Directors, particularly those with a background in the faith-based community, banking, and/or healthcare.

Diaper Bank of the Ozarks (DBO) is established to keep babies happy and healthy by providing access to diapers for families in need and through education on cloth diapering options that promote health and financial responsibility. DBO has touched the lives of over 25,000 babies over the past four years by distributing over 1,000,000 disposable diapers and over 200 cloth diaper starter kits. The organization donates to 40 local partner agencies in Greene County and other rural partners, reaching into 22 outlying counties who then distribute to families in need. Board members can expect to commit at least 3-4 hours per month on DBO activities, including a monthly board meeting, attendance at fundraising events, and any additional committee work (committee is chosen by the board member).

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Springfield is looking for volunteers to serve on the Event Leadership Team to help plan and execute the Relay For Life of Springfield.  By becoming a Relay For Life event leadership volunteer, you have the opportunity to make a tangible impact in the fight against cancer, gain valuable leadership skills and receive the honor of helping others in your community.  The Relay For Life Event Leadership Team meets monthly at the American Cancer Society office.

Team Recruitment Chair: This critical role serves as a champion and advocate for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event to recruit new teams to the event.  

Survivor & Caregiver Chair: The survivor & caregiver chair recruits, recognizes and engages survivors and caregivers within the community.  Primary role is planning survivor and caregiver recognition at the Relay For Life event. 

Sponsorship Chair: The sponsorship chair’s primary responsibility is to secure financial and in-kind support from new and returning Relay For Life event sponsors. 

Accounting Chair: The accounting chair ensures there is an accurate record of how much money is raised by our RFL teams, sponsors, and event using official ACS accounting policies and procedures. 

Kid’s Zone Chair: The kid’s zone chair plans and implements a schedule of events and activities for kids during the Relay For Life. Past activities include face painting, jump house, and games. 

Food Truck Recruitment/Management Chair: The food truck recruitment/management chair will work on identifying food trucks to invite to participate in the Relay For Life of Springfield. 

HOPE Foundation

The HOPE Foundation is looking to fill four open board positions in 2017 and is eager to connect with local young professionals. The HOPE Foundation is a children's charity that bridges the gap for families who are facing a pediatric emergency and who have become overwhelmed with the unexpected expenses associated with such a tragedy. As board members, we are obligated to be faithful stewards of our donors’ gifts, and we also are responsible for the fate of families seeking grants from our organization. It is important, and meaningful work! As a board member of the HOPE Foundation, you will make a major difference in the lives of families across the Ozarks

Missouri Council of the Blind

The Missouri Council of the Blind (MCB) is the largest blind-consumer organization in the state of Missouri.  MCB is a not-for-profit agency which was established in 1956 to provide assistance in the form of services and advocacy for people living with blindness across the state of Missouri. As is the case with many not-for-profit agencies, fund generators are vital to our success.  Located in Springfield, Missouri, the MCB (Missouri Council of the Blind) Thrift Store began operation on December 8th, 2011 and is our only thrift store that funds our programs. 

Missouri Council of the Blind Thrift Stores is looking to add additional young professional members to their board. MCB is committed to a well-rounded board membership, including those with expertise in business, finance, and/or marketing.
