The fourth and final event in the year-long Outlook series presented by the Chamber’s economic development arm, the Springfield Business Development Corporation, will focus on trends and innovation in one of the area’s largest sectors: manufacturing.
The 2017 Manufacturing Outlook is scheduled for Friday, December 8 at the University Plaza Convention Center and will be highlighted by a panel of four local manufacturing leaders discussing successful innovations in modern manufacturing:
The four will discuss several trends they see on the horizon for the manufacturing industry, as well as what companies in the industry are doing to navigate the new modern industry landscape.
Attendees also will hear from Danny Perches, the Chamber’s Coordinator of Business Assistance. He visits more than 150 regional businesses each year as part of the Chamber’s Business Retention & Expansion Program to hear about emerging trends, best practices and obstacles to growth. One of the most common obstacles he hears about in his visits is access to workers, and Perches will offer information about several Chamber initiatives aimed at supporting manufacturing workforce needs in the area.
“The manufacturing industry plays a major role in both our regional economy and our workforce,” Perches said. “It’s critical for our long-term vitality that we meet with manufacturers and address their concerns so that these companies can continue to grow, expand, and reinvest in our region.”
The Manufacturing Outlook may be the final event in the 2017 Outlook Series, but the event series begins anew in 2018 with the Health Care Outlook, scheduled for March 28.
