Only days after Springfield City Council approved new language allowing transportation network companies to operate in Springfield, leaders from Uber joined Springfieldians downtown to celebrate their launch in the city. City council voted unanimously (Councilwoman Fisk abstained to avoid any potential conflict of interest) on Monday, November 17 to approve new regulations that would allow transportation network companies like Uber and Lyft to operate in Springfield. Drivers who were signed up and ready to drive with Uber got the go-ahead from the company to begin giving rides on Thursday at noon.
