- Springfield's Safe Routes to School initiative was profiled in a national report as an example of a program that can help keep children safe from traffic dangers on their way to school.
- The state of Missouri was recognized by Moody’s Economy.com as one of only eleven states showing signs of economic recovery. The study cited Missouri’s diverse economy as central to its recovery.
- Springfield was one of four U.S. locations selected for the “Small Giants Safari.” The tour brought 13 business people from Brazil and the Netherlands to the U.S. to learn ways to develop “small giant” strategies into their own businesses. The Springfield stop focused on SRC Holdings Corporation.
