• Expedia, Inc. has announced plans to expand its Springfield operations by adding 500 new jobs. The company will hire for positions in customer service, financial operations, technical support and other roles that support its Expedia.com and Hotels.com online travel brands. Average annual salary for the new positions will be $35,000 which is above the Greene County average annual salary.

• Springfield Public Schools 4th quarter report show big gains in academic achievement among the district’s students.  Students’ math and communication arts test scores are up, in some cases as much as 40% from the beginning to the end of the school year.

• Ozarks Technical Community College is launching several multi-million dollar construction projects.  The projects will range from new construction to extensive remodeling over a two-year period at the Springfield, Lebanon and Hollister campuses.

• Springfield’s July 2010 sales tax revenue was up more than 16% compared to July 2009.

• Greene County received a clean audit from the United States Department of Homeland Security on use of FEMA funding to clean up following the January 2007 ice storm.
