Small Business Award Nomination
2010 Small Business Award Nomination and Application
Originating in 1992, this annual Chamber award celebrates the success of our small business members with a special luncheon each May, and presents the W. Curtis Strube Small Business Award to one of the top five finalists. The award is named in honor of W. Curtis Strube, the late director of Breech School of Business at Drury University. An avid supporter of small businesses, Strube founded the Chamber’s Small Business Council.
Any Chamber member company in good standing with 50 employees or less (organization-wide) is encouraged to apply. The award recipient is selected based on a written application packet covering company history, business or management philosophy, response to challenges, innovative products or services offered and community-oriented contributions. No sales information is required, and there are no site visits by the judges.
The application packets are sent to our independent panel of judges, which consists of the previous years’ recipient, two business professors from local colleges/universities, and two business professionals as selected by the Chamber’s Small Business Council. After the judges’ scores are tallied, the top scoring applicants are named as finalists, with the award recipient being announced at the Small Business Award Luncheon.
