Missouri State University is a public, comprehensive university with a statewide mission in public affairs, which drives a campus-wide commitment to promote responsibility in ethical leadership, cultural competence and community engagement. An important part of the university’s mission is to help students and the community gain a greater understanding of other countries and cultures, and become better prepared for the challenges of globalization.

One of the ways Missouri State University is working to promote international understanding is through television programming provided by Ozarks Public Television (OPTV). Operated by the university, OPTV is producing a series of television programs that will introduce viewers to the countries and cultures that are playing an increasingly significant role in international affairs.

In March of 2016, OPTV will begin gathering footage and conducting interviews for “Passport to Brazil.” Scheduled to air in early 2017, “Passport to Brazil” will be a series of six 30-minute episodes with a goal to highlight the history, culture, nature and diversity of Brazil. In particular, this program will take a close look at Brazil’s dynamic agribusiness sector and innovations in sustainability, entrepreneurship and social development. Successful educational partnerships between Missouri State University and Brazilian universities also will be featured.

Previous programs in this series include “Passport to China” and “Passport to Latin America,” both of which can be viewed online at http://www.optv.org/home/. For more information about “Passport to Brazil,” please contact Brad Bodenhausen, assistant vice president for international programs at Missouri State University, at 001-417-836-3292 orBradBodenhausen@MissouriState.edu.
