Roseann Bentley will be honored at this year's Silver Strands Celebration in appreciation for her lifetime of service and commitment to the citizens of Greene County. The celebration will take place Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Hickory Hills Country Club.
Silver Strands Celebration honors citizens who have made a positive impact in our community for people with developmental disabilities. Proceeds will benefit Friends of Abilities First, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that assists with the growing needs and expenses incurred by people with developmental disabilities in our community served by Abilities First.
Roseann Bentley's passion for helping our community is evident in her many accomplishments and endeavros throughout her career. Her legacy includes her service as a Greene County Commissioner and Associate Commissioner, serving in the Missouri State Senate for eight years as the first woman elected to the state senate from southwest Missouri, and president of the Springfield R-12 School Board of Education, Missouri State Board of Education, and the National Association of State Boards of Education. In addition, she has served as chairman and member of many boards and committees including United Way of the Ozarks, the Community Foundation, the Mayor's Commission for Children, and the Community Partnership of the Ozarks.
