“Rawlings has maintained a very strong relationship with Johnny Mac’s over the past several decades and we were eager to take our partnership to the next level via the opening of the “Rawlings “Mark of a Pro” Shop”,” said Greg Bialis, Vice-President of Team Sales for Rawlings. “This exciting joint venture between our two brands represents our shared desire to serve as the ultimate sports shopping destination for customers in Missouri.”
“For more than 30 years, Johnny Mac’s and Rawlings have enjoyed a robust and successful relationship,” said Bob McArthur, President and CEO of Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods. “We are excited about partnering with them on this latest project, to bring a Rawlings concept store to Springfield. It marks a new direction for us and one we are enthusiastic about supporting.”
In addition to the largest Rawlings baseball product assortment in the Midwest including gloves, bats, batting gloves, catcher’s gear, baseballs, uniforms and performance apparel, the Rawlings “Mark of a Pro” Shop will offer an array of premium services to shoppers. Customers will have the ability to have a Rawlings glove technician re-lace and/or steam their glove, customize gloves and uniforms on interactive devices and test and demo bats prior to purchase in a 20’ inflatable hitting cage. In an effort to expand into other consumer categories, the shop boasts a “coach’s corner” section containing items specific to coaches and athletic trainers with a seating area for meetings and consultations as well as a “fan shop” area comprised of novelty team gear such as St. Louis Cardinals™ and Kansas City Royals™ branded coolers, replica helmets, specialty baseballs and lawn chairs.
Rawlings’ sister company Worth Sports® will have a presence within the shop and will feature its latest line of fastpitch and slowpitch softball equipment and uniforms. Additionally, there will be a limited assortment of Rawlings football products available in the store.
