Qualifications & Experience:                                                                                    

MANDATORY: (M1) Bachelor’s degree in education, math, English, teaching, counseling, social work, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; (M2) Demonstrated competence in field of expertise; (M3) One year of experience in adult education or tutoring; (M4) Experience and sensitivity serving disadvantaged groups including veterans, low-income, first-generation, or academically disadvantaged students; (M5) Ability to work well with others; (M6) Strong oral and written communication skills; (M7) Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).

DESIRABLE: (D1) Knowledge of TRIO programs and services; (D2) Prior military or military-related experience; (D3) Experience working within a collegiate setting; (D4) Experience with Colleague.

Position Summary

The Adult Education Coordinator is responsible to the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) Program Director for the oversight of all academic year and Summer Academy academic services and activities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Responsible for all academic instruction and tutoring efforts for the Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) program.
  • Supervise VUB tutors.
  • Organize and supervise Summer Academy activities and special workshops.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining all VUB curriculum.
  • Responsible for data collection related to academic instruction and tutoring.
  • Collaborate with OTC’s Adult Education and Literacy Office and other appropriate college departments to support academic instruction and tutoring related to the VUB program.
  • Assist with advising of VUB participants.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
