Chamber to manage launch of innovative career readiness initiative

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce announced today it will contract with Springfield Public Schools and 10 other area school districts to launch a new career readiness initiative that will focus public education resources on confronting the number one challenge facing businesses and employers today: talent development and retention.

Chamber unveils new Strategic Area of Focus

The intel that we receive from visiting with area employers is crucial. It helps our organization and our community stay ahead of trends in the economy and tells us where we need to focus in the long term. There is one trend in particular that we hear so often and that is so important that the Chamber's board of directors has decided to elevate it to a fourth Strategic Area of Focus to our Action Plan this year.

Help us dive deeper into the main drivers of our economy

The Chamber is partnering with the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis to conduct a short 10 question survey which will evaluate regional economic conditions. Participation in the survey is voluntary, and will be open to all businesses from February 4 through February 11 in an online format. The results of the survey will be released later this spring.

Chamber publishes 2014 Community Leadership Visit Report

Chamber announces 2015 Springfieldian

Dr. John Bentley was named the 2015 Springfieldian at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting Friday. Bentley completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in 1964 and went on to finish his training in Internal Medicine at University of Wisconsin in 1968. He then practiced medicine at St. John's, now Mercy Hospital Springfield, for 35 years. What began as a volunteer position with The Kitchen Clinic in 1980 evolved into a directorship in 1985 and ultimately, his role with Jordan Valley Community Health Center, where he has served as a family practitioner for 11 years.

Manufacturer announces plans to locate in Springfield region

Americana Tire and Wheel has announced plans to locate in the Springfield region, investing $1.5M to open a new assembly facility in Marshfield, MO, and create 20 new jobs above Webster County average wage.
