The Red Cross is looking for individuals who would like to be considered either for the board of directors or for a board committee position. An American Red Cross Board Member is a passionate leader who desires to make a positive impact on the community through their engagement in the Red Cross mission. In partnership with the local Executive, a board member will focus outwardly into the community to effectively mobilize support and resources around the Red Cross mission. The Care to Learn – Springfield Chapter has a 30-member Advisory Council of that is responsible for the oversight of the chapter by carrying out the vision and mission of Care to Learn, raising funds and managing the use of those funds, and overseeing and maintaining functioning committees for Care to Learn fundraisers, marketing/outreach, and allocations. Advisory Council members are required to attend 3 out of 4 meetings throughout the year and be active on their assigned committee, which may require additional meetings as needed. New Advisory Council members are selected each year in June on an as-needed basis and are on-boarded in July.

We have a rotating board at the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. Our board terms are three years and you can serve two consecutive terms for a total of 6 years. Our fiscal year cycle runs from July 1 to June 30, and we typically have three board openings every year. Our board is comprised of 18 members and we try to have representation from the hospitals we serve, as well as community/business leaders from Springfield and surrounding areas.

National Alliance on Mental Illness is looking for young professionals who have a personal connection with mental illness and an interest in peer support to join our Hope Center Advisory Board.  This is a new advisory board for the Hope Center and Warm Line that will report to the Board of Directors of NAMI Southwest Missouri.  Elections are held in December each year and the term of office is one year.  There is an application process for any interested person.
