Meet the Newest Members of Leadership Council: Laura Head Elliott

Posted by Paige Oxendine on Nov 14, 2016

The Network is making eight great additions to our Leadership Council in 2017. We sat down with new council member Laura Head Elliott to learn more about her favorite Springfield spots and where you can find her when she's not working. Laura is a tireless advocate for downtown Springfield and comes to the Leadership Council with tons of experience in marketing and event planning, having previously worked as Director of Marketing at Mother's Brewing. Now she's out on her own with The Elliott Space and continuing to bring awesome events to our community. Check out her answers below and give her new venture a like on Facebook!

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

When I’m not working, I love spending time outside doing just about anything! Gardening, playing with my dogs and going for a run are a few of my top picks. I also really enjoy strolling around downtown, popping in the local shops, meeting friends for happy hour, or catching a performance. There’s still so much to discover downtown and it continues to be one of my favorite pastimes!

How long have you lived in Springfield?

I grew up in Ozark and officially lived in Springfield for 3.5 years during college (MSU). I moved to Minnesota after graduating in 2005 and returned to Springfield in 2008.

What's your favorite place for a lunch meeting?

Druff’s and Big Whiskey’s downtown are my two favorite lunch meeting spots.

What's the best place to unwind after a long day at work?

Scotch and Soda is my go-to after work spot!

In your opinion, what's the best part of being a young professional in Springfield?

Being part of the young professional community in Springfield is an incredibly rewarding and challenging venture. Our community is on the verge of so many opportunities for progressive change. I believe all of us young professionals are in a position to advocate for and participate in these movements, and to make a loud, visible impact in our community. It’s so exciting! It’s great to share these challenges and excitement with an awesome group of my peers that have so many gifts and talents to give.
