Director's Nominating Committee announces candidates for the 2015 Board of Directors

Seven candidates for the Board of Directors have been selected by the Nominating Committee to replace the directors whose regular terms are expiring. Additional names of candidates for Directors can be nominated by petition bearing the genuine signatures of at least twenty-five (25) primary members of the Chamber in good standing if the candidate’s willingness to accept directorship responsibilities has been determined in advance. Such petition shall be limited to one nomination and filed with the President of the Chamber by 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 13. The determination of the Nominating Committee as to the legality of the petition(s) shall be final.

More than 250 exhibitors turned out at the B2B Expo

More than 250 Springfield businesses--large and small--turned out to exhibit at the Chamber's B2B Expo on October 2. The day kicked off with Good Morning Springfield followed by a full serving of networking and the first ever Go BIG pitch competition.  Check out the photos.

The Affordable Care Act employer mandate takes effect in 2015, are you ready?

Starting in 2015, some businesses will have to provide insurance to their employees or could be required to make an Employer Shared Responsibility payment. 96% of businesses are below this threshold and will not be affected by the shared responsibility rules. Do you know if you’re in the 96%?

Nominations for Salute to Health Care are due August 15

The Salute to Health Care event is a collaboration between the Chamber and the Springfield Business Journal (SBJ). In addition to the Chamber Salute awards, SBJ will recognize health care workers in these categories: E.R. Nurse, Dental Hygenist, Optometrist and Clinical Psychologist. An independent panel of judges will select the honorees. The award recipients will be honored during a banquet on November 20. Banquet registrations will open on the Chamber's website on October 1.

Committee seeks nominations for 2015 board of directors

Chamber members are invited to nominate individuals for consideration for the 2015 Chamber board of directors. This year’s Directors Nominating Committee is currently preparing a slate of nominees. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Chamber board at the regular September meeting.

Deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., Wednesday, August 20.

Chamber announces strategic areas of focus
