Experience Works is a national, charitable, community-based organization that helps older adults get the training they need to find good jobs in their communities. For more than 40 years we have devoted ourselves to helping people break out of poverty and reclaim their lives and dignity through work.

Training
The Missouri Career Center is available to provide assistance to employers for the training and re-training of new and existing employees through skill training.
- Alchemy
Through Alchemy, an interactive, competency-based, modular training system, training can be delivered in a classroom setting for up to 32 employees at one time. At the same time individual assessment results can be captured and provided to employers. The workforce system now has a 90-course library of standardized modules covering a variety of workforce topic- available in English and Spanish. Additional modules are available and offer content customized to meet specific needs of business and industry for a fee. - Business Services Team
Our Business Services Team is made up of Business Services Representatives who act as liaisons from the Center to local businesses. Our Business Services Representatives can link employers with additional training that is available through other institutions.
Recruiting
The Missouri Career Center provides various opportunities and tools that allow employers to recruit potential employees. Our Business Service Representatives are available to answer questions and assist businesses with any of the resources listed below:
- MissouriCareer Source (www.missouricareersource.com)
Missouri Career Source is an on-line career assistance resource that enables businesses to list job openings and review applicants. In addition, it provides an opportunity for job seekers to demonstrate their qualification, match against jobs, and search for new careers. - Pre-screening applications
Applications can be accepted at the Career Center and screened according to a business’ needs. - Job Fairs
Career Center staff, as well as the Business Service Representatives, work with employers to provide opportunities for businesses to recruit workers through job fairs. The job fairs may be specific to a business or a group of individuals (i.e. veterans) or broad in nature to bring in a diverse audience. - Job Club/Career Morning
These provide weekly opportunities for companies to showcase their business and speak with potential employees.
Assessment Center
The Missouri Career Center’s Assessment Center provides various assessment and testing services that help determine the skills of a potential employee. Among these assessment tools are:
- Missouri Career Readiness Certificate (MoCRC)
This is a state-certified document that demonstrates individuals’ achievement on the nationally recognized WorkKeys® job skills assessment system that measures abilities identified by employers as critical to job success. WorkKeys® measures skills that are valuable for any occupation-skilled or professional-and at any level of education. Assessments are available in four key areas: communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and personal skills. - Office Proficiency
Tests include keyboarding, computer applications (i.e. Microsoft® Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows, etc.), data entry, contact center (customer service-telephone and order entry), clerical (letters, minutes, filing, etc.) and financial testing (bank reconciliation, deposits, petty case, basic math), as well as other professional tests. - TABE

Resources
The Missouri Career Center provides resources and information that are needed in today’s business world.
- Rapid Response
Rapid Response provides immediate services to employers and employees impacted by layoffs as a result of downsizing or closure. - Tax Incentives
Information can be provided on available tax credits. - Regional Information
Information is available on the labor market, local economic conditions, and census data. - Regulatory Compliance
Links to government agencies are provided to obtain information regarding compliance issues and regulations. - Federal Bonding Program
The program provides Fidelity Bonds to businesses, free-of-charge, as an incentive to hire job applicants who are ex-offenders or has some other “risk” factor in their background. The bond is an insurance policy for the employer that protects against any loss of money or property due to employee dishonesty.

Counseling
Whether you are just starting a business or expanding an established business, SCORE counselors are here to help you succeed. Counseling is free, no matter how many sessions are needed. Each session usually lasts about one hour. Since counselors are interested in your progress, follow-on sessions are encouraged. Counseling is available to all U.S. citizens and legal aliens over the age of 13.
Workshops
Springfield SCORE offers low-cost business training workshops for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. Workshops are open to all U.S. citizens and green card holders over the age of 13. Most workshop presenters are SCORE counselors who have years of industry and business experience. Other presenters are practicing professionals, including accountants, lawyers, bankers, and business mangers from diverse businesses and industries. These workshops offer a great opportunity to learn, as well as an opportunity to interact with other local small business owners and people who are planning to go into business.
